On 28 July 2025, Sri Lanka took a significant step forward in its digital transformation journey by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Artificial Intelligence collaboration with AI Singapore (AISG). The signing ceremony took place at the National University of Singapore’s Kent Ridge campus.
The MoU was signed by Laurence Liew, Director of AI Innovation at AI Singapore, and Senarath Dissanayake, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Singapore, on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka.

This partnership comes at a crucial time as Sri Lanka works to build a Digitally Inclusive Nation. With AI playing an increasingly important role in global development, Sri Lanka aims to:

The collaboration also marks a milestone in 55 years of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Singapore, adding a new dimension to the countries’ growing ties in innovation and digital transformation.
